Workshop Descriptions
Assisted Self-Practice: Practitioners are instructed on an individual basis in order to learn and maintain practicing the traditional sequences of Ashtanga Yoga with adaptation when necessary, personalized verbal guidance from the teachers, and attention to special needs. This practice is suitable for practitioners who have an understanding and experience of the self-directed Ashtanga practice. Teachers: Jade Skinner/Nzingah Oniwosan/Amy Lucky
Guided Primary Series: The counted primary series draws awareness to the subtle and physical aspects of the mind and body. The traditional sequence of asana includes Sun Salutations, fundamental standing postures, seated postures that emphasize the hips and spine, backbends, and introspective finishing postures. This energetically paced class is recommended for practitioners who have experience with the Ashtanga primary series. Teacher: Elaine Gallagher
Ashtanga for Everybody: Come experience a creative sequence of postures based on the traditional Ashtanga practice. This class is the perfect place if you are seeking a gentle flow or are new to the yoga practice -- you will have time to move, breathe, and hear guidance that is designed to support a range of experience levels. Teacher: Todd McLaughlin
Yoga Philosophy for Uncertain Times: This year we’ve heard over and over that we are living in unprecedented times. So much so that uncertainty has become the norm. In the face of the unknown we’ve had to find ways to support one another in facing our common dilemma’s and learn to respect diverse viewpoints. We may not always get it right, but Yoga can help us understand the limits of our knowledge, our capacity for compassion, and how to explore our potential for adaptation and innovation. In this session we’ll explore the very yogic theme of acting in the face of uncertainty. Teacher: Greg Nardi
Yoga Nidra: Yoga Nidra is a practice of deep relaxation that guides practitioners to experience the state of consciousness that is beyond self-limiting beliefs. The conscious mind is a conglomeration of identities that we have built throughout our lives. These identities can veil our true nature and potential. During Yoga Nidra we relax through one layer of consciousness to another, revealing the power of the subconscious mind. This practice welcomes practitioners of any experience level. Teacher: Amy Lucky
